Former NY Assistant AG Says She Was Fired for Speaking Out Against Child Gender Procedures

A former assistant attorney general in New York says she was fired by Democratic Attorney General Letitia James after publicly criticizing child sex change procedures, alleging she was pushed out for raising concerns that conflicted with the office’s political stance.

Glenna Goldis, who describes herself as a lesbian, said in a statement posted Thursday on X that she was dismissed after speaking out against what she called “pediatric gender medicine” providers engaging in “a dangerous consumer fraud.” Goldis said she was treated “like a pest” by staff in James’ office while working in the Consumer Frauds and Protection Bureau because she publicly raised alarms about the issue.

Goldis wrote that colleagues in the attorney general’s office struggled to explain why her public statements criticizing transgender ideology in pediatric medicine were considered problematic. According to her post, the objections only became clear when the office’s general counsel pointed to a specific line in her blog referencing the holding in U.S. v. Skrmetti, which she said established that banning pediatric gender medicine is not discriminatory. Goldis said she was told that statement conflicted with James’ legal position.

According to her LinkedIn profile, Goldis served as an assistant attorney general in the Consumer Frauds and Protection Bureau from January 2022 until her dismissal in January 2026.

A spokesperson for James’ office disputed Goldis’ account, telling the Daily Caller News Foundation that the attorney general’s office has rules and protocols governing employee activities that may impact the work, operations, or integrity of the office. The spokesperson said Goldis’ “flagrant and repeated disregard” of those rules disrupted and undermined the office’s mission to protect the rights of New Yorkers.

Goldis did not respond to a request for comment from the DCNF. However, in her public statement, she alleged that someone she described as James’ “ethics chief” warned her it was unethical to take public legal positions that conflicted with the attorney general’s views. Goldis said it appeared the warning was intended to pressure her into silence to protect James.

Goldis also emphasized that she belongs to the same LGBTQ community that James claims to champion. She said she tried to explain to officials in the attorney general’s office that pediatric gender medicine often targets children who defy traditional sex norms, noting that studies show such children are more likely to be gay as adults. Goldis said these procedures can reportedly result in sexual dysfunction, chronic genital pain, incontinence, and other serious side effects.

She wrote that no one in authority at the New York Attorney General’s office showed interest in her concerns that pediatric gender medicine may be homophobic in nature. Goldis accused James of dismissing the risks of gender drugs by calling them safe while firing her for contradicting the attorney general’s position.

In a Substack post published March 3, 2025, Goldis wrote that youth gender medicine caught her attention several years earlier after she noticed what she described as illogical reasoning among its practitioners. She questioned claims that sex is merely a social construct and raised concerns about the medical effects of treatments such as testosterone, including incontinence in females. Goldis said she found that doctors often relied on anecdotes and accused skeptics of bigotry rather than addressing hard questions.

James has been a vocal supporter of LGBTQ causes and transgender policies in recent years. In an August 2025 statement, she said New York would never stop fighting for the dignity, safety, and rights of the transgender community.

At the federal level, the Trump administration has moved aggressively to roll back gender ideology policies. President Donald Trump issued an executive order in January 2025 stating that the United States would not fund or support the “transition” of children from one sex to another and would strictly enforce laws limiting such procedures.
