Report Claims Russia May Be Assisting Iran in Targeting U.S. Forces as Conflict Escalates

A new report claims Russia may be helping Iran target U.S. forces amid the escalating conflict following recent American and Israeli strikes against the Iranian regime.

According to an exclusive report from The Washington Post, Russia is suspected of providing technical support to Iran that could assist Tehran in identifying and striking U.S. military targets. The report cited three individuals familiar with the situation who described what they believe to be a coordinated effort tied to the ongoing conflict.

The allegations come as tensions remain high after U.S. and Israeli forces launched strikes against Iran on Saturday. Since those operations began, six U.S. service members have been killed in Kuwait in an attack involving an Iranian drone.

One individual familiar with the situation told the Post that the effort appears extensive.

“It does seem like it’s a pretty comprehensive effort,” the person said.

Another individual suggested that Russia’s alleged involvement may be linked to Washington’s ongoing support for Ukraine, which Russia invaded and has been fighting for years.

“The Russians are more than aware of the assistance that we’re giving the Ukrainians,” the person said. “I think they were very happy to try to get some payback.”

According to the report, officials believe Russia may be providing Iran with targeting information that could help the regime identify U.S. military positions and personnel.

Those claims, however, were not echoed by the Pentagon’s top civilian leader.

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth appeared to downplay the role of Iran’s international allies when discussing the situation, stating that Russia and China are “not really a factor here.”

Meanwhile, the White House has emphasized the significant damage inflicted on Iran during the ongoing military campaign.

White House spokesperson Anna Kelly described the Iranian regime as suffering severe setbacks following the strikes.

“The Iranian regime is being absolutely crushed,” Kelly said.

She added that Iran’s ability to retaliate has weakened as the conflict continues.

“Their ballistic missile retaliation is decreasing every day, their navy is being wiped out, their production capacity is being demolished, and proxies are hardly putting up a fight,” Kelly said.

The U.S.-led operation has targeted key elements of Iran’s leadership and military infrastructure. According to the article, the strikes have killed much of Iran’s leadership, including the country’s supreme leader.

President Donald Trump has said the military campaign could last several weeks, though he has also indicated that the scope of the conflict could expand depending on how events unfold.

The president previously warned that the situation could widen to involve additional countries, including Cuba.

Despite the ongoing operations against Iran, Trump has acknowledged that the regime may still attempt retaliatory attacks, including the possibility of targeting Americans.

Speaking earlier this week, Trump said such risks are a constant consideration during wartime planning.

“I think they’re worried about that all the time,” Trump said.

“We think about it all the time. We plan for it,” he continued.

The president also acknowledged the harsh realities of armed conflict.

“But yeah, you know, we expect some things,” Trump said. “Like I said, some people will die. When you go to war, some people will die.”

As the conflict continues to develop, questions remain about the role outside powers may be playing and how the situation could evolve in the weeks ahead.
