In a bombshell article, gossip columnist and writer Cindy Adams at The New York Post revealed that she has spoken with an attorney who “may” already be working on a shadow campaign for Michelle Obama to run for the White House in 2024.
The chief gossiper for The Post claimed that Michelle has already been in touch with some heavy-hitting Democratic donors and has sent a private survey to take the temperature of the presidential waters.
Adams says we should keep an eye out for Biden announcing he won’t be running this spring, around May, which would put Michelle Obama in the prime position to snag the Democratic nomination at the August convention.
In The New York Post, Adams writes:
Obama’s quietly angling for Joe to go. He’s weaseled up to this for a few weeks. Mouths aren’t talking. But mouths are knowing.
Over one year ago, summer of 2022, she was in NYC meeting several big hedge CEOs, and said, “I am running, and I am asking for your support.”
The Obamas are now nudging to force SloMo Joe to go. Drop out. It’s like who else is there?
Newsom’s California mismanagement and the looming $75 billion deposit is for sure no maybe. Christie’s now a helium balloon and they believe Nikki’s icky.
A Joe flop-out offers probability Michelle could wiggle in. Obama’s negotiating to make that happen.
This is not the first time that the Michelle-for-Joe swap has been rumored. A foreign politician told the British newspaper last August “that their government is expecting former First Lady Michelle Obama to be the Democratic nominee in 2024 rather than Joe Biden. The unnamed source claims that the incumbent president will pull out of the race right before the first primaries begin next year, leaving only Michelle Obama to be in the position to win,” New Conservative Post reported.
Both Obamas have voiced concerns about Biden’s chances this fall. The Washington Post noted that “Former president Barack Obama has raised questions about the structure of President Biden’s reelection campaign, discussing the matter directly with Biden and telling the president’s aides and allies the campaign needs to be empowered to make decisions without clearing them with the White House, according to three people familiar with the conversations.
Obama grew ‘animated’ in discussing the 2024 election and former president Donald Trump’s potential return to power, one of the people said, and has suggested to Biden’s advisers that the campaign needs more top-level decision-makers at its headquarters in Wilmington, Del. — or it must empower the people already in place. Obama has not recommended specific individuals, but he has mentioned David Plouffe, who managed Obama’s 2008 race, as the type of senior strategist needed at the Biden campaign.”
Michelle has expressed anxiety about the upcoming election, as well. She told a podcast, “Our leaders matter. Who we select, who speaks for us, who holds that bully pulpit – it affects us in ways that sometimes I think people take for granted. I am terrified about what could possibly happen.”
“The fact that people think that government — ‘eh, does it really even do anything?’ — and I’m like ‘Oh my God, does government do everything for us, and we cannot take this democracy for granted,’” the former First Lady continued. “And I worry sometimes that we do. Those are the things that keep me up.”
If Adams is right, it appears that Michelle’s anxiety has recently turned from worry to action.
Obama would likely be a formidable candidate for Donald Trump. She has topped several polls as the most admired woman in the country over the past few years.
The move may leave Kamala Harris out in the cold, but it’s doubtful that the Bidens will mind.
