Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, who played a key role in shaping U.S. foreign policy during the administration of former President George W. Bush, was reportedly seen entering the White House on Friday, according to multiple reports.
Rice, a longtime figure in Republican national security circles, served as National Security Advisor from 2001 to 2005 before becoming Secretary of State from 2005 to 2009. During her time in the Bush administration, she was deeply involved in the U.S. response to terrorism following the September 11 attacks and helped guide the country’s strategy during the broader War on Terror.
Her appearance at the White House comes as the United States faces a rapidly escalating conflict with Iran, following joint military strikes carried out by the U.S. and Israel over the weekend.
Speaking with Fox News about the current situation, Rice said the goal of the Trump administration’s actions appears to be weakening Iran’s military capabilities to the point that it can no longer threaten the United States or its allies.
“If you can render Iran essentially incapable of military action against us and against our allies, that’s worthy,” Rice said in the interview.
The remarks come amid rising tensions in the Middle East after U.S. and Israeli forces launched coordinated strikes against targets in Iran. The operation was reportedly carried out due to fears that Iran was developing missiles that could threaten regional stability.
Since the strikes were launched, Iran has retaliated, and the fallout from the conflict has spread beyond its borders, with other countries also experiencing the impact of the escalating hostilities. In response to the deteriorating security situation, Americans have been advised to leave the Middle East.
Officials in the Trump administration have framed the current confrontation with Iran as the latest chapter in a long-running conflict between the United States and the Iranian regime.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth offered a blunt assessment of Iran’s actions over the past several decades during remarks to reporters earlier this week.
“For 47 long years, the expansionist and Islamic regime in Tehran has waged a savage, one-sided war against America,” Hegseth said.
He continued by noting that Iran’s hostility toward the United States has not always taken the form of open warfare, but has instead been carried out through attacks on American personnel and interests around the world.
“They didn’t always declare it openly, except for their constant chants of ‘death to America,’” Hegseth added.
According to the defense secretary, those actions have included deadly incidents such as car bombings in Beirut, rocket attacks on U.S. ships, murders at American embassies, and roadside bomb attacks targeting U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.
As tensions continue to mount, Rice’s visit to the White House has drawn attention given her long experience in foreign policy and national security. While the purpose of her visit was not immediately clear, the timing comes as the United States navigates one of the most serious confrontations with Iran in years.
With the situation still unfolding, the conflict between Iran, the United States, and Israel appears to be entering a new and uncertain phase.
