President Donald Trump threw his full support behind Mike Lindell’s campaign for governor of Minnesota on Wednesday, praising the MyPillow founder as a dedicated patriot and offering what he called his “complete and total” endorsement in the race to succeed outgoing Democratic Gov. Tim Walz.
Trump announced his endorsement in a Truth Social post, where he highlighted Lindell’s longtime support for the president and sharply criticized Walz’s tenure as governor.
“Mike Lindell, the ‘Pillow Man,’ and one of America’s greatest and most hard working Patriots, is running to be GOVERNOR OF MINNESOTA, replacing one of the worst and most incompetent governors in the history of the U.S.A.,” Trump wrote.
Lindell entered the gubernatorial race last December, joining a crowded Republican field seeking to replace Walz. The Democratic governor, who had initially been running for a third term, withdrew his reelection campaign in January following increased scrutiny over his administration’s handling of a major fraud scandal in the state.
According to prosecutors, as much as $9 billion was stolen by various groups that claimed they were providing meal assistance for children in need, along with other services reimbursed through Minnesota state agencies.
Trump has repeatedly clashed with Walz over the fraud allegations, as well as over the administration’s immigration crackdown and the ongoing war involving Iran.
In his endorsement, the president said Lindell would help reverse what he described as Minnesota’s decline.
“He can do it! Nobody has sacrificed more than Mike Lindell in fighting for our country, especially when it comes to Election Integrity,” Trump wrote. “He truly deserves everything he gets – He will MAKE MINNESOTA GREAT AGAIN!!!”
Trump concluded his endorsement by declaring, “MIKE LINDELL HAS MY COMPLETE AND TOTAL ENDORSEMENT – HE WILL NOT LET YOU DOWN. Good Luck Mike!!!”
The endorsement comes only months after a federal judge ruled that Lindell had defamed Smartmatic by making false statements alleging the company’s voting machines helped rig the 2020 presidential election.
Trump has continued to maintain that his 2020 election loss to former President Joe Biden was not legitimate, despite the article noting that he has done so without evidence. The president is expected to deliver a primetime speech Thursday focused on election integrity.
Minnesota voters are scheduled to head to the polls for the state’s primary election on Aug. 11.
On the Democratic side, Sen. Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota leads the crowded field and is considered the favorite heading into the November election.
Lindell has also begun assembling his prospective administration. Last month, he announced that retired Navy Lt. Cmdr. Phillip Parish would serve as his lieutenant governor if Lindell is elected.
Parish, a former intelligence officer, ended his own gubernatorial campaign in order to join Lindell’s ticket.
With Trump now offering his strongest possible endorsement, Lindell’s campaign receives a significant boost from the president as Republicans continue competing to determine who will challenge Democrats in Minnesota’s race for governor.
