Election denier and Democrat Stacey Abrams has moved onto her next high-paying grift: banning gas stoves. According to Fox News, she “has announced she will be joining an environmental advocacy dark money group that is pushing to regulate and ban natural gas-powered stoves.
Rewiring America, the nonprofit group Abrams will join as senior counsel, is a self-described “leading electrification nonprofit, focused on electrifying our homes, businesses, and communities.”
Through her role, Abrams will ‘launch and scale a national awareness campaign and a network of large and small communities working to help Americans go electric,’ according to the group.
Abrams also touted her new role in a post shared to Instagram, saying she is joining the group ‘because it has a vision to connect communities across our nation and show how we can choose clean energy without sacrificing our livelihoods or our wallets.'”
The twice-failed candidate for Georgia governor has faced heavy scrutiny for launching organizations that paid her a significant sum of money while also having “financial irregularities. Now she’s just grifting from leftwing billionaires.
The Washington Free Beacon reports, “Rewiring America researcher Talor Gruenwald, who wrote the study that the Biden administration has used to justify a potential gas-stove ban, was formerly employed by the Rocky Mountain Institute, which shares board members with Chinese state-controlled companies.
The failed candidate will ‘launch and scale a national awareness campaign and a network of large and small communities working to help Americans go electric,’ Rewiring America announced. The group has blasted the use of gas stoves and called for mass ‘electrification,’ which the group’s CEO praised as “the most equity-centered climate strategy we have.”
The group is sponsored by the Windward Fund, in turn a member of Arabella Advisors’ dark money network, Fox reported. Arabella also manages the North Fund, a shape-shifting organization that “uses aliases to push an array of left-wing causes from a shell office in Washington, D.C.,” the Washington Free Beacon reported.
While Abrams paints herself as an anti-corporate progressive, she has cozy relationships with other shadowy millionaires and corporations. Much of her 2022 fundraising haul came from ‘wealthy coastal Democrats,’ the Free Beacon reported, while her ‘voting rights’ nonprofit is bankrolled by a foreign billionaire.
In January, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission made news when a Biden appointee said that the agency was “considering a ban on gas stoves amid rising concern about the health risks associated with indoor air pollution from the appliances, particularly among children.”
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, which can issue mandatory standards or ban consumer products if no feasible standard would adequately protect the public, plans to take action to address the gas pollution that has long been linked to health and respiratory problems. Richard Trumka Jr., a U.S. Consumer Product Safety commissioner, tweeted on Monday that “gas stoves can emit dangerous [levels] of toxic chemicals—even when not in use—and @USCPSC will consider all approaches to regulation, explained Time.
New regulatory action could require all new homes be built with electric stoves or high efficiency exhaust vents. Trumka told Bloomberg, which first reported the news, that “any option is on the table” and “products that can’t be made safe can be banned.”
The White House said it had no plans to issue such a regulation, but according to The Hill, the Biden administation “also announced last November that Rewiring America will lead a coalition of major U.S. companies in a consumer outreach and education campaign to connect households with Inflation Reduction Act rebates and tax incentives to go electric.
“Rewiring America anchors our work in how the decisions we make around the kitchen table about the machines we use can save us money, make our homes and communities healthier, and reduce climate-harming emissions,’ Rewiring America Co-Founder and CEO Ari Matusiak said in a statement. ‘Stacey Abrams’ career of public service has hit all these themes and more. She’s a brilliant and visionary organizer who will accelerate our work and expand the audience for the benefits of electrification — the most equity-centered climate strategy we have.'”
Liberals pretended that the debate was silly and that no one would consider banning gas stoves, but New York said not so fast. Politico reported that lawmakers in the Empire State “are on track to enact a statewide ban on gas heating and appliances in new buildings, a major marker in a partisan fight over fossil fuels and consumer choice.
The state Assembly and Senate, controlled by Democrats, included different versions of a natural gas ban in their budget proposals that are expected to be reconciled, writes POLITICO’s E&E News reporter David Iaconangelo. Democratic Gov. Kathy Hochul has said she supports a ban if it lands on her desk.”
Lovers of a good gas range should feel comforted, though. While Abrams is incredible at raking in the dough, she’s not very good at winning campaigns.
That’s why her talk of running a third time for governor has left some Democrats with a bad taste in their mouths.
