Donald Trump Could Be Playing Right Into Biden’s Hands

Some of the biggest concerns Trump supporters hold may be coming true, and they can do nothing to stop it.

Despite warnings that relitigating the 2020 Election would have disastrous consequences for Republicans in 2024, the former president appears hellbent on defining his campaign with one word: revenge.

NBC News writes

Former President Donald Trump posted a word cloud on his Truth Social account Tuesday showcasing words such as “revenge” and “dictatorship,” the result of a Daily Mail poll that asked likely voters what word they would use to describe what he wants from a second term.

The poll, conducted by the firm J.L. Partners and released by the Daily Mail on Tuesday, asked 1,000 likely voters for one word to sum up President Joe Biden’s and Trump’s plans for new terms. According to the poll, the most popular word linked to what Biden planned to achieve was “nothing.”

Trump cryptically posted the word cloud on his Truth Social account Tuesday afternoon without comment or context. The word “revenge” in crimson letters stands at the center of the word cloud, with “power” above it and “dictatorship” below it printed in orange.

It’s not immediately clear why former President Trump believes “revenge,” “dictatorship,” “nothing,” or “power” is something the public will find appealing, but over the past week, especially on Christmas, the GOP front runner made it clear that he’s running to settle scores.

Fox News reported that “in a departure from the familiar lines of the renowned ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas poem, former President Donald Trump shared a new rendition of the ‘Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night’ line in a social media rant on his platform Truth Social.

‘Merry Christmas to all, including Crooked Joe Biden’s ONLY HOPE, Deranged Jack Smith, the out of control Lunatic who just hired outside attorneys, fresh from the SWAMP (unprecedented!), to help him with his poorly executed WITCH HUNT against ‘TRUMP’ and ‘MAGA,'” he wrote on Christmas Day.

Included in his Christmas greeting were also “World Leaders both good and bad,” and the “SICK thugs” in the U.S. who ‘with their Open Borders, INFLATION, Afghanistan Surrender, Green New Scam, High Taxes, No Energy Independence, Woke Military, Russia/Ukraine, Israel/Iran, All Electric Car Lunacy, and so much more, are looking to destroy our once great USA.’

‘MAY THEY ROT IN HELL,” the former president wrote. “AGAIN, MERRY CHRISTMAS!'”

Days before Christmas, Senator Lindsey Graham, noted USA Today, “warned former President Donald Trump to not ‘look back’ on the 2020 election if he becomes the Republican presidential nominee, saying that he thinks Trump risks losing in 2024 if he focuses on the past.

‘I accept the election results of 2020. I’m worried about 2024,” Graham said Sunday on ABC’s ‘This Week.’ ‘If President Trump puts the vision out, improving security and prosperity for Americans, he will win. If he looks back, I think he will lose.’

“So, at the end of the day, the 2020 election’s over for me. We need to secure the ballot in the 2024 cycle,” the senator continued.

The Christmas message from the former president, allowed the current president, Joe Biden, to do exactly what Graham fears. Rather than talking about his miserable record as president, Biden will try to make the 2024 election about personalities.

Although conventional wisdom says that Biden will be in deep trouble next November, Democratic strategist Simon Rosenberg recently explained why he believes that thinking is incorrect.

Writing for MCNBC, he claimed, “First, President Joe Biden has kept his central promise in the 2020 election: that he would lead the nation to the other side of Covid, successfully. The pandemic has receded. Our economic recovery has been better than any other G7 nation. GDP grew at an annual rate of 4.9% last quarter, and more than 3% for the Biden presidency. We have the best job market since the 1960s and the lowest uninsured rate in U.S. history. The Dow Jones broke 37,000 this month for the first time. Wage growth, new business formation and prime-age labor participation rates are all at historically elevated levels. Prices fell — yes, fell — last month. Rents are softening, and gas prices and crime rates are falling. Domestic oil and renewable production are at record levels. The annual deficit, which exploded under Trump, is trillions less today.

Second, the strength of the president’s record is only matched by the strength of his party. I don’t think it is widely understood how strong the Democratic Party is right now. The party has won more votes in seven of the past eight presidential elections, something no party has done in modern American history. Over the last four presidential elections, Democrats have averaged 51% of the popular vote, their best showing over four national elections since the 1930s.

In both 2022 and 2023, Democrats prevented the historical down ballot struggle of the party in power and had two remarkably successful elections. In the 2022 midterms, Democrats’ statewide margins were greater than the 2020 presidential margins in Arizona, Colorado, Georgia, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire and Pennsylvania — all recent battleground states. That showing led the party to pick up a Senate seat, four state legislative chambers and two governorships, and helped keep the House of Representatives close, making it far more likely Republicans lose it in 2024.

Finally, while Democrats keep winning, conventional wisdom continues to overly discount Trump’s historic baggage and MAGA’s repeated electoral failures. Despite these repeated failures, Republicans are on the cusp of nominating Trump again, who this time is an even more degraded and dangerous version of MAGA than he was in 2020.”

Is Trump playing right into their hands? Democrats seem to think so.
