Over the past five years, Democrats and the mainstream media have warned of “misinformation” shaping our elections. What they haven’t said is what we should do if they perpetrate the falsehoods.
Over the weekend, former President Donald Trump said that there would be a “bloodbath” for auto workers if he did not win.
“If you’re listening, President Xi — and you and I are friends — but he understands the way I deal. Those big monster car manufacturing plants that you’re building in Mexico right now … you’re going to not hire Americans and you’re going to sell the cars to us, no. We’re going to put a 100% tariff on every single car that comes across the line, and you’re not going to be able to sell those cars if I get elected,” Trump told the crowd.
“Now if I don’t get elected, it’s going to be a bloodbath for the whole — that’s gonna be the least of it,” he added. “It’s going to be a bloodbath for the country. That will be the least of it. But they’re not going to sell those cars. They’re building massive factories.”
NBC News noted that “the comments came at a rally here as Trump discussed the possibility of an increasing trade war with China over auto manufacturing. The rally was intended to get out the vote for Republican Senate candidate Bernie Moreno, whom Trump endorsed in December, ahead of Ohio’s primary on Tuesday.
The comments, which everyone knew was about American factory workers, however, immediately became portrayed as Trump promoting political violence because Democrats desperately want 2024 to be about January 6, 2021.
Fox News captured some fake headlines from prominent media outlets about the quote.
“Politico’s headline stated, ‘Trump says country faces ‘bloodbath’ if Biden wins in November.’ NBC News’ headline stated, ‘Trump says there will be a ‘bloodbath’ if he loses the election.’ The headline for CBS News stated, ‘In Ohio campaign rally, Trump says there will be a ‘bloodbath’ if he loses November election.’
Additionally, Rolling Stone’s headline read, ‘Trump Says There Will Be a ‘Bloodbath’ and Elections Will End if He Isn’t Reelected,” and NPR wrote, “Trump says some migrants are ‘not people’, and warns of ‘bloodbath’ if he loses” for its headline.
When asked about Trump’s comments by NBC News, his campaign spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt clarified them: “Biden’s policies will create an economic bloodbath for the auto industry and autoworkers.”
The headlines were immediately described as “the bloodbath hoax” on social media, led by the king of social media Elon Musk himself.

Others pointed out that the bias only reveals the hypocrisy on the left where obsessions about “norms” and “defending democracy” have become the norm.
You don't have to agree with or even like Trump to be honest about him.
But this is why the "norms/Our Democracy/etc" stuff just falls flat.
If your "norms" are just "we'll lie about people we don't like and call it news" then your system is rotten.
No thank you. https://t.co/j8NWB53jPI

Republican members of Congress also noted the media malfeasance.
The Democrats and the media lie constantly about what Pres Trump says.
They twist his phrases and sarcasm and tell the public he said something he did not.
When Trump said there will be a bloodbath if Biden wins, he was talking about the auto industry and he’s RIGHT! https://t.co/ktLlxfL905

Jason Rantz, a political commentator, noted that all these kinds of overwrought reactions only help Donald Trump.
“The unhinged media coverage and Democrat reaction comes with unintended consequences.
While they think they’re hurting Trump, they’re only helping him. Gone are the days where the context isn’t easily available. In under 12 hours, the video I posted on X showing the context was viewed nearly 120,000 times. That represents just one video showing the full context. Others have posted the same and it’s being viewed by a public that’s rightfully grown more distrustful of the media. And the public will know that the Left is again lying about Trump, earning him sympathy and more support.
Voters know taking the Trump “bloodbath” comment so remarkably out of context is yet another desperate attempt to hurt his reelection campaign. The ones who are on the fence about who to support for president will soon realize that maybe the way they felt about Trump during his first term, when they were economically so much better off than under Biden, was manipulated by a dishonest press. That guarantees a vote for Trump and helps explain why he’s leading in the polls.”
Of course, that won’t stop the Biden campaign for buying and pushing the hoax hook, line, and sinker.

The presidential reelection campaign wrote:
“Tonight, Donald Trump said there would be a ‘bloodbath’ if he wasn’t elected and that if he lost, there would be no more elections,
After opening the general election by meeting with authoritarian leaders and rallying alongside conspiracy theorists, Donald Trump continues to praise dictators, promise to pardon political violence, and launch racist attacks against Black and brown Americans.”
Despite being told it’s a hoax, Biden doubled down.
It’s clear this guy wants another January 6.
But the American people are going to give him another resounding electoral defeat this November. https://t.co/saukB6Wjry

Who’s really adopting conspiracy theories here?
Democrats most recently launched a committee to block third parties and have tried to ban Trump from the ballot, but remember, they’re the ones we should trust to protect democracy and won’t do things like arrest enemies of the regime or send the IRS against whistleblowers.
The Biden campaign may want to adopt another tactic that trying to scare “Black and brown” voters. A recent poll showed that “Biden’s key campaign messages, that Donald Trump is a threat to democracy, is winning over fewer Black supporters and those without college degrees than other segments of his political base,” wrote Reuters.
“Worries about political extremism and threats to democracy have emerged as among Americans’ top concerns, following historic events including Republican former President Trump’s attempts to overturn his 2020 election defeat, the Supreme Court’s move to end the nationwide right to abortion and a surge in migrants crossing the U.S.-Mexico border.”
