The Biden administration is no longer vaccinating migrants in custody at the southern border ahead of their release into the United States, according to the federal agency and a vaccine provider contracted by the U.S. government.
The White House will do anything to protect undocumented immigrants, but one thing they won’t do is give them vaccinations when they’re stopped at the border. Last fall, the federal government rolled back its vaccination operations for migrants who come across the U.S.-Mexico border illegally.
Democrats want everyone to be vaccinated except illegal immigrants.
Tom Douglas, vice president of business development and government relations for vaccine contractor Universal Healthcare, recently explained to The Washington Examiner that the change in policy puts the United States at risk of experiencing outbreaks of rare diseases.
”The operations came to a halt in September of 2023,” Douglas said in a phone call.
CBP confirmed to the Washington Examiner that migrants no longer have the option to get flu or COVID-19 vaccines. A federal contract with AMI, whose subcontractor Universal Healthcare fulfilled the contract, has ended, CBP said.
However, Douglas said it is imperative for the government not only to restart those vaccinations but expand them given the diseases being seen inside the country and traced back to migrants who came from the border.
“This is not only a public health emergency, it’s now evolved. This is a breach of national security. Now that we’re seeing all these eradicated diseases, I mean, we don’t need to talk about influenza and COVID anymore. We need to be talking about tuberculosis, measles, mumps,” Douglas said in a phone interview this week. “We can’t continue to do nothing. And so a quick and inexpensive vaccination of that is the most effective health care tool that we have.”
The open border policies of the Biden administration has wreaked havoc on the medical systems of some of America’s largest cities.
The Daily Mail recently reported that nearly “84 percent of deadly measles cases in a recent major outbreak at a migrant center in Chicago are linked to Venezuelan immigrants, a new CDC report shows.
New information reveals that the spate of 57 cases at the Pilsen migrant shelter can be traced back to a one year-old boy who had only received one of the two vital vaccines.
The majority of the cases — 72 percent — were among unvaccinated people, the CDC said.
The report cites overcrowding at the center for the rampant spread, with 500 people said to be crammed into a single room.”
Measles had been considered eradicated in the United States in 2000.
USA Today wrote that “while the U.S. saw 58 cases in all of 2023, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported Monday there have been 58 cases through mid-March. Officials linked 93% of U.S. cases to international travel. It is transmitted in these cases when unvaccinated people travel abroad and return to the U.S. with the disease.
While the measles outbreak spread in a migrant shelter, the disease can easily spread to other congregate settings. It can remain in the air for up to two hours after an infected person leaves the room.
‘If there’s even a small number of people in that area that are susceptible to measles, introducing one case can result in pretty efficient spread to all of those non-immune individuals in that space,’ said Dr. Larry Kociolek, who teaches pediatrics at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and oversees preparedness, prevention, and response for the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago.
Chicago has taken in nearly 40,000 migrants, many of whom arrived in the Democratic-led city on buses sent by Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott. Chicago leaders have since moved to evict migrant shelter residents due to lack of resources, they said.”
Both Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker and the mayor of Chicago Brandon Johnson have begged the Biden administration to help them deal with the massive influx of migrants who have entered the country illegally since 2021.
Both still support sanctuary cities, however.
