It was always a hypocritical lie.
Shortly after a video showing President Biden needing to be guided off the stage by Barack Obama hit the internet, the White went on the attack. White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre invented the term “cheap fakes,” claiming that several videos showing Biden to be lost or confused had been edited to make the president look bad.
Now, an investigation shows that the White House is the one doing most of the editing rather than Republicans, writes The Daily Caller.
The White House has resorted to blaming “cheap fakes” and “deceptive editing” for any video depicting Biden doing something embarrassing. Moreover, cracking down on “misinformation” has been a key part of Biden’s Administration, even going so far as to pressure social media companies to censor content they didn’t like, documents obtained by the House Judiciary Committee in November 2023 show.
After the Daily Caller showed celebrity photographer Karl Anderson a series of photos from Biden’s official Twitter account, he said the image manipulation was easy to spot and strategically executed. Anderson, who studied photography at The Sydney College of the Arts, has captured portraits of prominent stars like rock-n-roll legend Chuck Berry, famous rapper Busta Rhymes and R&B superstar Ike Turner. He has also worked with other greats in his field, such as Richard Avedon, Albert Watson and Steven Meisel. Some of Anderson’s clients include The New York Times, Residence Magazine and Plaza Magazine, and he regularly contributes to top Swedish publications Sköna Hem and Residence.
“The first thing that I noticed right away is that very obviously doctored chin and neck, which just sort of cleans up his look and takes away from the elderly gentleman look. I guess, you know, they’re trying to present him as a little bit more youthful,” Anderson told the Caller. “And again, I think a lot of them have the same sort of broad scale doctoring.”
Vito Amati, an accredited photographer and contributor to reputable sites Getty Images and Shutterstock, agreed with Anderson’s assessment, saying Biden’s chin looked a lot more chiseled than your typical 81-year-old’s.
This isn’t the first time the White House has been caught trying to make the president look or sound different from reality. In December, the president received criticism after his staff began editing official White House transcripts to cut out gaffes made by the president.
Huffington Post wrote in May that “in his address to the NAACP on Sunday, the official transcript fixed several mistakes ― some of which conservative media jumped on, Mediaite reported. Polling has shown that voters are more concerned about Biden’s acuity than Republican rival Donald Trump while both rack up blunders on the campaign trail.
In talking to the NAACP, Biden mistakenly implied he was vice president during the ‘pandemic,’ which was crossed out while ‘recession’ was added in brackets. He referred to ‘insurrectionists’ as ‘irrectionists,’ which was amended, and said his administration was “cracking down on landlords who keep rents down.” The “who” was crossed out and replaced by a ‘to.’
Biden told the civil rights group he was ‘humbled to receive this ‘organization,’ when he meant ‘award,’ the transcript showed.
He also committed a double gaffe on the matter of insurance premiums. He said his administration saved families ‘$800,000’ a year, quickly changed it to $8,000 during the speech ― but the transcript altered it to $800.”
For a long time, Biden and his media allies blamed a stutter for his constant gaffes. Last week, a liberal writer went as far as to suggest that the president should deploy AI to create “cheap fakes” of their own that show the president to be more coherent than he really is.
It turns out that’s what they’ve been doing already.
