Democrats Resigned To Defeat As Biden Gives Up On ‘Unity’ Theme

Joe Biden’s speech last night in the aftermath of the shooting of Donald Trump has done the opposite of what was intended. In a gaffe-laden speech from the Oval Office during a national crisis, Joe Biden called on Americans to “lower the temperature,” but ended up merely reminding the country that he’s not fit to be president.

The Washington Examiner noted that “after stating that he shared a “short but good” conversation with Trump the prior night, the president called on voters to reject political violence and solve their differences at the “battol box,” instead of ballot box.

The White House transcript of Biden’s remarks, published Monday morning, featured an odd spin on the president’s verbal blunder.

“But in America, we resolve our differences at the battol [ballot] box. You know, that’s how we do it, at the battol [ballot] box, not with bullets,” the transcript says. “The power to change America should always rest in the hands of the people, not in the hands of a would-be assassin.”

The treatment of the transcript appears to suggest that Biden mispronounced ballot, rather than using the wrong word.”

The address likely did not cheer up Democrats, many of whom have told reporters that a sense of doom has come over the entire party. NBC News writes that liberals are coming to terms with their likely fate.

At a time when President Joe Biden has been struggling to shore up support with fellow Democrats following a miserable June debate performance and shaky cleanup effort, some professional Democratic political operatives said Saturday’s shooting will end up sealing the incumbent’s electoral fate.

“We’re so beyond f—ed,” one longtime Democratic insider said, noting that the image of Trump thrusting his fist in the air, with blood dramatically smeared across his face, will be indelible.

“The presidential contest ended last night,” said a veteran Democratic consultant, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to give a candid assessment of his own party’s standing less than four months before the election.

“Now it’s time to focus on keeping the Senate and trying to pick up the House,” he said. “The only positive thing to come out of last night for Democrats is we are no longer talking about Joe Biden’s age today.”

The president’s message clearly did not resonate with the Democratic Party’s radical activist base, which has swarmed Milwaukee to pretend that Donald Trump and the Republicans are “fascists.”

The New York Times reported that “a crowd of left-leaning demonstrators rallied Monday morning in a downtown Milwaukee park and began marching through the city on the first day of the Republican National Convention. The attempted assassination of former President Donald J. Trump on Saturday, protest organizers said, had not changed their demonstration plans, which had been in the works for months.

The gathering at Red Arrow Park on a sunny, humid morning included several hundred protesters and was smaller than some organizers had predicted. The demonstrators were drawn by a range of causes, including Palestinian rights, support for Ukraine, climate change and L.G.B.T.Q. rights, as well as general fear about the country’s future in a second Trump administration….After the attack on Saturday, protest organizers emphasized that their plans were unchanged. Hatem Abudayyeh, national chair of the U.S. Palestinian Community Network, part of the coalition planning to protest in Milwaukee, said on Sunday that “we’re going full steam ahead.’

‘Regardless of any increase in tension, we still are calling on local and federal police to do their job, which is to not infringe on our protest rights,’ Mr. Abudayyeh said.”

To be fair, the Biden campaign only went 12 hours before it reverted back to implying that Trump and his choice of vice president, Ohio Senator J.D. Vance, would become “fascists.”

The Trump campaign has previously complained to the Secret Service that the convention needed to be better protected, but the Biden administration has so far ignored the calls for more security.
