Media personality Piers Morgan ignited a fiery public feud Monday with conservative commentator Dave Rubin, blasting his former friend as a “treacherous little weasel” and declaring that Rubin is no longer welcome on his television program.
The clash unfolded after Morgan criticized Daily Wire co-founder Ben Shapiro during a monologue on his show Piers Morgan Uncensored. In that segment, Morgan accused Shapiro of acting as a “propagandist” for Israel.
Rubin quickly jumped to Shapiro’s defense on social media, delivering a sharp rebuke of Morgan.
“Piers would sell his mother to a jihadist for a click…” Rubin wrote in a public post, siding firmly with Shapiro and escalating the dispute into a personal conflict between the two commentators.
Morgan responded with visible anger, pointing to what he described as a recent gesture of friendship toward Rubin.
“Wow. Four months ago, I drove out to do Rubin’s podcast at his home in Miami as a personal favour because he’s done my show many times. I thought we were friends. How wrong could I be?” Morgan wrote.
“What a treacherous little weasel. Being Netanyahu’s useful idiot has sent him & Shapiro nuts,” Morgan added.
Rubin later declared that he would no longer appear on Morgan’s panel programs, but Morgan quickly shut the door on any future reconciliation.
“You won’t ever be doing my show again, in any capacity,” Morgan replied.
The dispute is the latest chapter in a broader argument that began last week between Morgan and Shapiro, highlighting tensions within conservative and media circles over criticism of Israel and its ongoing military operations.
Shapiro had previously taken aim at Morgan, accusing him of turning political television into a spectacle.
In remarks referenced by Morgan, Shapiro described the host as “the Jerry Springer of political television,” claiming Morgan had made “a mockery of the entire industry by putting on screen whatever dregs are still willing to go on” his show.
Shapiro specifically criticized Morgan for featuring guests who have voiced strong criticism of Israel during panel debates on the program.
Morgan responded on social media, suggesting the conflict stemmed from his willingness to question the Israeli government’s actions during the war in Gaza.
“If people are curious why @benshapiro has suddenly turned on me, this may explain it… the guy just can’t take anyone criticising Israel’s govt,” Morgan wrote.
Morgan argued that his commentary applies to governments across the world, including his own.
“I criticise all governments, especially my own,” he said.
He also pushed back against claims that criticism of Israeli policy automatically crosses into antisemitism, saying he finds the accusation unfair.
“I just don’t understand why I can’t criticise Israel’s govt without being branded anti-Semitic or having the likes of @benshapiro throwing their petulant toys out of the stroller,” Morgan wrote. “It’s absurd.”
Morgan further claimed that his relationship with Shapiro cooled after he began speaking more critically about Israel’s conduct in the Gaza conflict.
According to Morgan, Shapiro had previously been a frequent guest on Piers Morgan Uncensored but stopped appearing after Morgan’s commentary became more critical.
“Ben was a regular guest on @PiersUncensored – but from the moment I became more critical of the Israeli Govt for its conduct in the war in Gaza, he stopped coming on, stopped replying to my texts, and now publicly attacks my show,” Morgan said.
The dispute reflects how debates surrounding international conflicts—particularly those involving Israel—have increasingly spilled into media circles and fractured once-friendly alliances.
What began as a disagreement over policy and commentary has now turned into a public rupture between high-profile media figures, illustrating how heated discussions about war abroad can quickly ignite personal battles at home.
