Those who cross the wrong path with the Biden Family have a tendency of ending up in jail. Now, Aimee Harris, a woman in Florida who claimed to have found the diary of Ashley Biden, the president’s daughter, has learned that lesson firsthand.
Despite claims that the diary, much like Hunter Biden’s laptop, had been abandoned by the First Daughter, Harris will be going away for theft, writes The Washington Examiner.
A judge on Tuesday sentenced Aimee Harris to one month in prison and three months of home detention for stealing Ashley Biden’s diary and other items and selling them to a right-leaning group ahead of the 2020 election.
Judge Laura Swain denounced Harris’s conduct as serious during a hearing in New York and criticized her for delaying her sentencing hearing a dozen times. The judge said, though, that the Department of Justice’s request that Harris receive four to 10 months in prison was unnecessary, according to Inner City Press.
Harris had asked only for probation, and her defense attorney said in court that the defendant had been punished enough by negative press attention and had been working to overcome a slate of legal woes, not just from the diary theft but from child custody matters and a DUI charge, according to Inner City Press.
Harris repeatedly sought eleventh-hour delays to her sentencing hearing, which was originally scheduled for December 2022. She provided reasons on a last-minute basis to the court, such as sudden sickness, child care problems, and a lack of documentation for travel.
The New York Post explained that “Harris came across the first daughter’s diary, tax records, private family photographs and her cellphone in September 2020, during a stay at a home in Delray Beach, Fla., where President Biden’s daughter had previously been living, according to the DOJ.
The diary contained ‘highly personal entries,’ the DOJ noted.
After stealing Ashley Biden’s property, Harris recruited co-defendant Robert Kurlander to help sell it, the government said, knowing that it belonged to “an immediate family member of a then-former government official who was a candidate for national political office.’
The duo sold the diary to conservative media outlet Project Veritas ahead of the 2020 election for $40,000.”
The diary became national news when an alleged page from it allegedly revealed disturbing aspects of the private life of the Bidens.
A woman who contacted Project Veritas’s tip line on September 3, 2020, shared in an audio recording that her family was acquainted with the individuals who rented out a house. According to her, Ashley Biden had stayed in one of the bedrooms and left behind a diary. In the voicemail, the caller, who remained unidentified, expressed, “The diary is pretty shocking. I believe it merits your attention. This is not a joke; it’s authentic. I’d be eager to pass it on to you.”
Indeed, the contents were startling. Ashley Biden had documented struggles with substance abuse and sexual encounters in her diary. She wrote about instances where her father, Joe Biden, would join her in showers, prompting her to wait until late at night to avoid such situations.
PJ Media wrote, “Ashley Biden herself reported the diary was stolen, though a whistleblower who obtained it claims she left it in a room at a drug rehab center where she stayed.
The diary discusses the author’s sexual addiction, drug abuse, and other traumatic life events.
“Was I molested. I think so — I can’t remember specifics but I do remember trauma,” the author wrote at one point. She also mentions taking “probably not appropriate” showers with her father when she was a child.”
Liberals have pushed back that the entry was fake, though the First Daughter has admitted that the diary in question as a whole is hers.
In 2020, many of the same people criticizing the diary, however, called the found Hunter Biden laptop “Russian disinformation” even when they knew the laptop was real.
