A public feud inside the MAGA movement exploded Monday as conservative commentator Candace Owens and activist Laura Loomer traded sharp personal attacks over Owens’ recent interview with Hunter Biden and the legal troubles surrounding French President Emmanuel Macron.
The conflict erupted after Owens released a surprising interview with Hunter Biden last Thursday, catching many conservatives off guard given her years of harsh criticism directed at the Biden family. The conversation was notably friendly, with Biden repeatedly complimenting Owens while the conservative media figure apologized for some of her past attacks against him.
That sudden shift fueled speculation online and quickly drew criticism from Loomer, who has sparred publicly with Owens before. Loomer accused Owens of attempting to ingratiate herself with the Biden family ahead of a major court hearing connected to a defamation lawsuit filed against her by Macron.
“I believe this is why Candace Owens is cozying up to the Biden family,” Loomer wrote Monday in a lengthy post on X.
The lawsuit stems from Owens’ repeated claims that French first lady Brigitte Macron was born a man, allegations she promoted across multiple media appearances and in an eight-part YouTube series. The Macrons filed suit against Owens in Delaware Superior Court during the summer of 2025, seeking both compensatory and punitive damages in a sweeping 22-count complaint.
According to Loomer, the timing of Owens’ interview with Hunter Biden was not coincidental. She pointed to connections between Delaware’s political establishment and the Biden family, noting that the judge overseeing the lawsuit had been appointed by Delaware Gov. John Carney Jr., a Democrat with ties to former President Joe Biden.
“This means Carney, who appointed the judge overseeing Candace Owens’ defamation case, knows Hunter Biden, in addition to knowing the judge,” Loomer wrote.
Loomer then suggested Owens may be hoping the interview could help her gain favor before her upcoming motion-to-dismiss hearing.
“She’s likely hoping her closeness to the Biden family and their relationship with the former Governor of Delaware who appointed the judge overseeing her case will win her favor with the judge or win her favor in Delaware if her case goes to trial,” Loomer added.
The accusations immediately triggered a furious response from Owens, who blasted Loomer in a series of posts filled with insults and ridicule.
“LMAO. Can someone with an IQ above 40 explain to this rabid hyena what a jurisdictional argument is in court,” Owens wrote, mocking Loomer’s legal analysis and dismissing previous claims that she might attempt to flee the country or hide assets because of the lawsuit.
Owens also ridiculed Loomer for what she described as “schizophrenic musings” connected to earlier online speculation about the case.
The war of words escalated throughout the day as both women continued posting attacks against one another on X. Loomer doubled down on her theory surrounding the Hunter Biden interview, while Owens responded with increasingly personal insults aimed at Loomer’s intelligence.
“The problem with Larry Loomer isn’t her mental illness,” Owens wrote in one post. “It’s the stupidity paired with it.”
The increasingly bitter exchange highlighted the growing fractures inside conservative media circles, where personal rivalries, online influence battles, and competing political loyalties have increasingly spilled into public view. What began as criticism over a surprising interview quickly devolved into accusations involving political favoritism, lawsuits, and conspiracy theories, reflecting the broader climate of distrust and factional warfare dominating much of modern political discourse.
