Megyn Kelly Blasts Judge Over Delay in Charlie Kirk Murder Case Decision

Megyn Kelly sharply criticized the judge presiding over the preliminary hearing in the murder case of alleged Charlie Kirk assassin Tyler Robinson on Friday, accusing him of unnecessarily delaying a decision on whether the defendant should stand trial despite what she argued was overwhelming evidence presented during the proceedings.

Speaking on The Megyn Kelly Show on YouTube, Kelly expressed frustration after learning that Utah Judge Tony Graf would not immediately rule on probable cause following the conclusion of the five-day preliminary hearing.

Opening her remarks, Kelly noted that the hearing had reached its fifth and final day, with a forensic expert expected to testify for the defense before proceedings wrapped up.

“It’s day five of the Tyler Robinson hearing,” Kelly said, adding that the defense’s forensic witness was expected to be the final witness before the hearing concluded.

Kelly then voiced disappointment that no ruling would be issued Friday regarding whether Robinson should be held over for trial.

“Unfortunately, we will not be getting a decision today on the obvious conclusion that there is probable cause to hold Tyler Robinson over to trial in the case of Charlie Kirk’s assassination,” she said. “Despite the mountain of evidence against him, this is a joke that Judge Tony Graf is even indulging this.”

The podcast host then turned her criticism directly toward Graf, arguing that his handling of the proceedings reflected a lack of confidence.

“I’m sorry, he’s Judge Ito, I’m over this guy completely,” Kelly said. “He has no confidence. He seems feckless up there. He seems like he’s terrified to make a decision.”

She followed those remarks with a blunt message directed at the judge.

“Like, grow a pair, judge!” Kelly said.

Kelly also took issue with Graf’s handling of a dispute that arose after media cameras briefly displayed a handwritten note Robinson allegedly wrote to his former roommate, Lance Twiggs. The note had not been cleared for public broadcast, prompting courtroom discussions over whether its brief display created legal concerns.

Calling the controversy “ridiculous,” Kelly argued the judge should have resolved the matter quickly rather than pausing proceedings to consider the issue.

“Evidence is not secret!” she said. “He works for us! Judge Graf works for us, the public defenders are on our dime, the people of Utah are paying for this entire proceeding.”

Kelly rejected arguments that the brief display of the exhibit threatened Robinson’s constitutional rights, describing the dispute as “legal subterfuge” and “bullsh*t.”

“It’s what we call harmless error. Judge Graf. Stay with me. It’s called harmless error,” she said. “Move on. Be a grownup, issue a ruling, use those two words and get down to the business of hearing actual evidence.”

Robinson has been charged with fatally shooting conservative activist and Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University in September of last year.

During the preliminary hearing, prosecutors presented DNA evidence they contend links Robinson to the rifle allegedly used in the shooting. They also introduced surveillance footage and testimony from Robinson’s former roommate, Lance Twiggs.

According to prosecutors, Twiggs told investigators Robinson later said he wished he “hadn’t done it.”

Although testimony concluded Friday with the end of the five-day preliminary hearing, Judge Graf will not determine whether Robinson will stand trial until final arguments are presented in September.
